Team Effectiveness

 

Synergy is a team effectiveness and action planning survey that assesses a total of 13 team effectiveness factors organized around the following framework:
  • Team alignment - Does the team have overall goals and direction?
  • Team talent/focus - Does the team have the right talent in place?
  • Team processes - Does the team have effective work practices?
  • Team interaction - Does the team work effectively together?
  • Team outcomes - Does the team achieve results/satisfied team members?

Synergy™ is based on our experience in working with hundreds of teams across multiple business sectors and organizational levels, our experience in conducting team diagnostics, and an extensive review of the team effectiveness public domain research literature. Synergy™ consists of 52 total items arrayed across 13 team effectiveness factors (4 rated items per factor). The survey asks team members to make ratings using a 5-point scale. In addition, the survey contains three open-ended items.

About The Author

Van Latham, PhD is an industrial and organizational psychologist with a broad business, human resources, consulting, and academic background. Dr. Latham spent 12 years in human resources leadership positions with PepsiCo and Iron Mountain before founding PathPoint Consulting.

Prior to his business career, Dr. Latham was an Assistant Professor of Management and Organizational Behavior at Creighton University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and The Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists.

He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Wayne State University.
